Happy New Year
Grand Knight's Message
Hearty wishes for a happy and healthy New Year to all our Council #5959 Brothers, our families and friends.
Let us be evermore resolute in serving the Lord in 2024.
We can start serving our Lord by supporting our priests, Father Brian and Father Paul. Here is a New Year’s Resolution that is an easy win. Make a New Year’s resolution to support our priests by serving as ushers, greeters, Eucharistic ministers and lectors.
Thanks to all those Knights who stepped forward to serve at the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day masses. However, it came to my attention that the 8 PM and 10 PM masses on Christmas Eve were left without KofC usher support.
Emergency measures were needed to cover the collections at those masses.
When attending Mass, please take it upon yourself to check if any help is needed to support the masses regardless of whether you've been an usher or greeter before; your help may be needed. The Knights are “the strong right arm of the Church.” We need to live up to that name. Thank you.
As always, be sure to wear KofC badges and pins when serving to raise awareness of our council.
As a “low-effort” New Year’s Resolution, take steps, even small ones, to become more active in the council. Some suggestions include:
- Start small - attend a council meeting each month, or at least every 2 or 3 months.
- Support the masses as described above as ushers, lectors and greeters.
- Help with the council activities starting in January and February.
These resolutions are easier than losing weight or saving money. Try it.
January 5 – “Knights of the Eucharist” 7:00 Eucharistic Adoration.
- Start the year off by being in the presence of Jesus.
January 10 – Council Meeting
- In the parish conference room at 7:30 PM (Come join us!)
January 13 - International Food Fest: 5:00 PM, in the Parish Hall (Sign up to help with the event and/or bring a dish)
Brother and PGK Al LoGiudice agreed to emcee the event.
- Sign-up sheets for dish contributions and ticket sales commenced the weekend of December 16/17 and will continue again the weekend of January 6/7. So far, we have ~30 dishes and 60 people attending. So, we are off to a great start!
- Help with planning and preparation is greatly needed.
January 20 – KofC Youth Free Throw Contest, 9:30-11 AM in the Parish Hall Basketball court (starting after 9:00 Mass).
- Spread the word about this event.
- 9-11-year-old boys and girls will register and participate from 9:30-10:15
- 12-14-year-old boys and girls will register and participate from 10:15-11:30
- Proof of age must be provided.
- Help is needed to register the contestants and monitor and record the shooting of the participants. If you have children participating, please lend a hand with the event itself.
January 24 – Council Social Meeting at 7:30 PM in the conference room.
February 11 - Communion Breakfast- 11:00. Msgr. Prus will be the main speaker.
- This event, which was a yearly staple of parish life, was discontinued during the lockdown years, but is now being brought back, and it coincides with the National Eucharistic Revival.
- The event is in the planning stages. In the spirit the Eucharistic Revival, a display of the 100 Eucharistic Miracles throughout the World will be set up for viewing during and after the event.
- Volunteers to be on the committee to plan this event are needed to make this event a success.
- As you can see, there are ample opportunities to grow and enrich your KofC experience and to build new relationships and friendships with your brother Knights.
Please join us and be a part of our wonderful mission as we serve our Lord Jesus Christ.
As always, please keep our Council and our brothers in your prayers as we invoke Blessed Father McGivney to guide our Council in our mission of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.

Worthy Brothers, Family, and Friends,
Our council, along with the ladies of the CCW, are planning a Blessed Sacrament Parish International Food Festival. The event is open to everyone, and all are encouraged to bring an appetizer, entree, and/or dessert to share with everyone. The key is for all the attendees to bring their favorite dish to share. We will serve water and soft drinks, if you would like to have a glass of wine or beer, please bring your own bottles.
Everyone will be encouraged to wear a name tag with the number of years as a member of the parish. As such we will be able to recognize the parishioner with the longest and shortest tenure. We are still planning the event but are expecting to at least have a 50/50 and basket raffle - stay tuned for more details.
We'd appreciate your help with selling tickets after all masses in coming weeks. The plan is to sell tickets for a couple of weekends in December, before Christmas, and then, the first week of January. Please make yourself available at whichever Mass you attend. We will have tickets and sign-up lists available this week. Click here to access Sign Up Genius and volunteer,

The one degree is now the Charity, Unity and Fraternity (CUF) degree. The 4th (Patriotism) continues to be a distinct event.
