Worthy Brothers, Family, and Friends,
|
What a great weekend of events! We had a very good memorial mass for the deceased Knights of Council 5959. We also had a solid outcome for our Installation of Officers. The weekend was capped off by a wonderful Veteran's Day ceremony, led by Fr. Brian and our very own DD Jim Gallombardo. Please see some of the photos followed by a video of DD Jim playing Taps on the trumpet. This was the first year an event like this honoring our Veterans was held at Blessed Sacrament. I can safely say that this will be a tradition and a yearly ceremony going forward! Also, we raised over $500 for the Send a Hero Home charity program!
|
There are a lot of people I need to thank that helped in putting this together. First, thank you Fr. Brian for your partnership and for blessing the flags. Second, thank you DD Jim Gallombardo for your knowledge, for providing us with the playbook on how to execute this ceremony honoring our Veterans, helping us make and set up the flags, and finally playing Taps on Sunday! None of this couldn't have happened without you! Last and certainly not least, thank you to Brothers Manny Cirne, Dave Adams, Pat Noonan, Bob Warren, Kennedy Arockiam, Bill Maxwell, Al Beronio, Larry Blanke, Harley Juth, and family members Ketrin and Maxine Maxwell who helped us Friday and Saturday to set up for Sunday. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated by me, this Council, and more importantly, the Veterans we honored on Sunday.

Exemplification Ceremony
The Knights of Columbus has revised the degree program; it is now one Exemplification Ceremony which combines 1st. (Charity) 2nd. Unity and 3rd. Fraternity, our Orders' principles. The one degree is now the Charity, Unity and Fraternity (CUF) degree. The 4th (Patriotism) continues to be a distinct event.
The link below includes a video of the ceremony. Take the time to view this video as a refresher as to what the nights are about and why you joined and to help you explain to your family who the Knights are, what we stand for and what we do.
