Grand Knight's Message

Dear Worthy Brothers,

In the spirit of Thanksgiving there are many things that come to mind for which we should give thanks. Here are a few that I would like to share with you. I’m sure you have your own list or share some of the same ones:
  • Our families
  • Our dear friends
  • Our country
  • Our freedoms
  • Our parishes
  • Our clergy – Fathers Brian and Paul, Deacon Lou, and Deaconate Candidate Eric (Blessed Sacrament)
  • Our Bishop - Most Rev. James F. Checchio
  • Our KofC Council – Thankful to be able to serve our parish, our community, and our Catholic faith.
Since this is the year of the Eucharistic Revival this is the opportune time to give thanks for the gift of the Eucharist – the special gift from Jesus to each and every one of us Catholics.

A special thanks to the Veteran’s Day Committee, chaired by PGK and Vietnam combat veteran Bob Warren, for the very special and memorable November 11th Veterans Day ceremony. Father Brian blessed the flags along with Father Paul. The 4th Degree Honor Guard also graced the ceremony with their presence. Over a thousand dollars in donations for the “Send the Heroes Home” program were donated. This event is truly one of the highlights of the Columbian Year.

Now to the busy schedule of upcoming events
  • November 25 - “Light up the Night” Christmas Tree set up and lighting. The exact timing in the morning is 9:00 AM (Help Needed)

See below article from the event Chairpersons and future communication coming in the Wind.
  • January 20 – KofC Youth Free Throw Contest (Back by popular demand) 9-11 AM in the Parish Hall
  • January 24 – Council Social Meeting at 7:30 in the conference room.
  • February 11 - Communion Breakfast- 11:00. Msgr. Prus will be the main speaker. - This event is in the planning stages. In the spirit the Eucharistic Revival a display of the 100 Eucharistic Miracles throughout the World will be set up for viewing during and after the event. A committee will be formed for planning and organizing.
Volunteers to assist and support these events are greatly appreciated and serve to enrich your KofC experience. Thank you!
As always, please keep our Council and our brothers in your prayers as we invoke Blessed Father McGivney to guide our Council in our mission of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
Happy Thanksgiving to all our KofC families and friends!

Vivat Jesus!

Worthy Brothers, Family, and Friends,

Our council, along with the ladies of the CCW, are planning a Blessed Sacrament Parish International Food Festival. The event is open to everyone, and all are encouraged to bring an appetizer, entree, and/or dessert to share with everyone. The key is for all the attendees to bring their favorite dish to share. We will serve water and soft drinks, if you would like to have a glass of wine or beer, please bring your own bottles.

Everyone will be encouraged to wear a name tag with the number of years as a member of the parish. As such we will be able to recognize the parishioner with the longest and shortest tenure. We are still planning the event but are expecting to at least have a 50/50 and basket raffle - stay tuned for more details.

We'd appreciate your help with selling tickets after all masses in coming weeks. The plan is to sell tickets for a couple of weekends in December, before Christmas, and then, the first week of January. Please make yourself available at whichever Mass you attend. We will have tickets and sign-up lists available in a couple of weeks.

Vivat Jesus!

The one degree is now the Charity, Unity and Fraternity (CUF) degree. The 4th (Patriotism) continues to be a distinct event.

The link below includes a video of the ceremony. Take the time to view this video as a refresher as to what the Knights of Columbus are about and why you joined and to help you explain to your family who the Knights are, what we stand for and what we do.
