Grand Knight's Message
As we approach the Holy Day of Obligation, The Solemnity of All Saints, we reflect on the souls of our departed Brothers. To that end, our Council will hold a special Memorial Mass this coming Sunday, November 5 at 12 o’clock mass. Please join us as we honor our departed brothers, particularly those who left us in the last 12 months:
- Timothy Wagner
- Ralph Manfredi
- Edward Schmidt
- Joseph Beotsch
- John Bogan
In addition, the Knights will once again honor those, living and deceased, who served our country in the armed forces. There will be a:
Veteran’s Day Ceremony on November 11, at 3:30 PM.
Please join us. Note that the proceeds from the donations for the flags will be donated to the “KofC Send a Hero Home” program, which pays for the trip home during the holidays for lower ranked service members.
In preparation for this ceremony, which has become one of the highlights of the Columbian year, there will be a memorial flag assembly meeting on Thursday evening,
November 2 at 7:00 in the conference room at Blessed Sacrament.
Volunteers are needed to make the task easier for all. Then, on the morning of
November 11 (rain or shine) at 9:30, the flags will be planted in front of the Church on either side of the flagpole.
Once again, please join us to help with this task.

On Veterans Day, November 11, 2023, the Council, and the Church will once again Honoring Our Veterans at 5pm outside the church. I hope you will join us in the somber celebration of those who served in our Parish.
Please join us on Thursday November 2, 2023, at 7PM to assemble the flags, Saturday November 11 at 9:30 AM to plant the flags, and before the Saturday Vigil Mass on Veterans Day Saturday November 11 to Honor our veterans.
In the meanwhile, please respond to a sign-up genius email you will receive shortly. The committee needs a couple of hours of your time for assistance in preparing for the program, placing the flags at about 3:30 PM right before the 4PM Vigil Mass on November 11th.
Donations in the name of each veteran will be accepted via check payable to Knights of Columbus 5959 with proceeds benefiting the KofC Send a Hero Home Program, enabling active-duty personnel ranks E-4 and below travel expense assistance to go home for Christmas. Last year, through your generosity, we were able to donate the net proceeds to these Vets to get them home. Suggested donation is $25. Please donate as your means allow whether participating in the flag program or not.
I want to thank you for your donations and/or time to the NJ Knights of Columbus’ “Send A Hero Home” program to help junior ranking military men and women pay for their travel home for the Christmas holiday to which they richly deserve.
