Grand Knight's Message

Dear Worthy Brothers, Family and Friends,

The rich history of our Catholic faith is quite remarkable and always a pleasure to learn about. Today is St. Bonaventure Day. Father Brian, at 9:00 mass today, gave an informative narration on this Saint’s life and his contribution to the Church. St. Bonaventure lived in the 13th century, was a colleague of St. Thomas Aquinas, and later became one of the great writers and theologians of the Middle Ages. He was instrumental in the reunification of the Catholic Church with the Eastern Orthodox Churches. Here is a quote from St. Bonaventure: “Men do not fear a powerful hostile army as the powers of hell fear the name and protection of Mary”.
At the July 12 Council meeting the attending Brothers were pleased to welcome a new member to our council, Brother Rich Smith. Rich recently moved to Martinsville and transferred from his old council in Salt Lake City. We look forward to seeing more of Rich and we extend our blessing on his upcoming marriage in October.
Also, at the July 12 Council meeting, there were a couple of Knights recognized for their meritorious service. PGK Dave Adams was recognized for his continuing management of the food drive which has accumulated over 2,400 lbs. of food for needy families since November. Treasurer Kennedy Arockiam was recognized for his skillful management of Council funds.
There will be an Officers’ Meeting held on July 26 where ideas for fundraising activities will be discussed as well as event planning through October.
Our next Council meeting is planned for Wednesday August 9 at 7:00. Rosary at 6:45. Come one, come all.
Enjoy the Lazy, Hazy, Crazy days of Summer!

Vivat Jesus!
Sincerely,
GK Bill

Exemplification Ceremony

The Knights of Columbus has revised the degree program; it is now one Exemplification Ceremony which combines 1st. (Charity) 2nd. Unity and 3rd. Fraternity, our Orders' principles. The one degree is now the Charity, Unity and Fraternity (CUF) degree. The 4th (Patriotism) continues to be a distinct event.

The link below includes a video of the ceremony. Take the time to view this video as a refresher as to what the Knights of Columbus are about and why you joined and to help you explain to your family who the Knights are, what we stand for and what we do.
