Grand Knight,
Jonathan De Leon

Dear Brothers, Sir Knights, Family, and Friends,
Our next council meeting will be held this week, on Wednesday, July 14. I would like to invite all of the members to attend. The is my first meeting as Grand Knight of this great council, and I would like to get to know as many of you as possible. At this meeting, we will discuss upcoming events and new ways of becoming an engaged member of our council.
We will meet in person in our chamber, aka rooms 1 and 2 at Blessed Sacrament Church!
Thank you to PGK Fred Ciociola for the great work leading the scholarship committee. It is comforting to know that our programs' are in capable hands with brothers who are experts in their fields leading the committees! See PGK Fred's article regarding this years scholarship program below.
Meeting Agenda:
- Pride of Priest Dinner: Anyone interested in going? It's $50 / person ($60 after August 18th). Typically in the past, the K of Cs would buy a table.
- Following the success of the Welcome Back Coffee and Donuts, we've been asked to host another one in July for the new priest Fr. Paul, and welcome Msgr. Terrance Lawler.
- Filling the calendar, in particular from September-December.
We continue to pray for Brother Carl Sisolak's success in his religious career; read his message to our council below.
I hope to meet as many of you as possible at my first meeting as Grand Knight this Wednesday.
Vivat Jesu,
Jon De Leon
Grand Knight, Council 5959

Annual Scholarship Awards
|
|
|
Our council scholarship program for 2021 is celebrated with individual scholarships of $500 each being awarded to seven candidates who are the grandchildren of active knights in our council. Remarkably, six of the seven students comprise three sets of twins, the first time anything remotely like that has happened during the years our scholarship program has been in existence.
Representing St. Labre Indian Catholic High School in Montana are twins Jacob and Sarah Sisolak, both of whom will be attending the University of Notre Dame. Jacob is determined to pursue a path toward environmental law while Sarah will be looking for career opportunities to use her talents as an artist. They are the grandchildren of our departed brother and PGK Steve Sisolak and his wife Cathy.
From Hunterdon Central High School, our awardees are twins Amanda and Jessica Auriemma who are the granddaughters of PGK Al and Gerry Logiudice. Amanda will study finance at the University of Tennessee, and Jessica will pursue nursing at James Madison University.
Representing North Hunterdon High School are twins Rebecca and Danielle Miceli, the granddaughters of PGK Fred and Kathy Ciociola. Rebecca will be studying nursing at the University of Pittsburgh, and Danielle will be undertaking a program in mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech where her brother Ryan will be a senior.
Finally, Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C. graduates the grandson of brother Al and Pat Beronio. Griffin Beronio will be attending the University of Wisconsin at Madison to study political science.
All had GPA’s near, at or over 4.0. Highly credentialed with awards, activities, leadership and service, our candidates were fairly easy choices for the council’s selection committee.
Per our annual contribution, Council 5959 has also provided $250 to both Mount St. Mary High School and Immaculata High School as awards to their best student in religion studies.
Fraternally Yours,
PGK Fred Ciociola, Trustee
Scholarship Committee Chairman

Message from Brother Carl Sisolak
|
|
|
|
Hello Br Knights:
Praying that you are all being kept in good health through the grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. It has been a year of experiences as an Alexian brother. Just recently I have been blessed with ministry work helping the poor and homeless in Chicago. Along with feeding them physically and spiritually, I also get to help connect them with housing, phone, and other resources since most have no phone or computer or internet access.
Many are looking to get back on their feet after the pandemic. Also, keep me in prayer as in two weeks I will profess my first vows as a religious as I take another step toward the full profession. This upcoming step in two weeks is right before full profession. God is good and I trust He is being good to you. You are missed and in prayers and that of our congregation of faith. God Bless you and Happy Independence Day.
Vivat Jesus,
Br Carl Sisolak CFA
