Brothers, Sir Knights, Family, and Friends,

Council meeting this Wednesday!

It is my sincere hope that you had a healthy Thanksgiving and were able to spend quality time with at least some of your loved ones! As we are now into the Christmas and New Year holiday season, there is much need still for our support in ensuring the neediest in our community have a happy holy season as well. To this end, we are hosting a virtual fundraiser. Please find DGK Jon De Leon's short article below, click here to view and donate to Holiday Fundraiser for Local Charities. We'd like to multiply our efforts by asking you to forward this email or otherwise share this link with all your friends and family. This will make them aware of the Knights of Columbus Council 5959's efforts and give them the opportunity to donate to this most important cause.

Thank you DGK Jon for your efforts with the fundraiser setup. Please read his update below. Additionally, we are “gently “ requesting small children’s jackets. Slightly worn or NEW jackets and coats in children sizes 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 or you can make a donation to our Christmas Holiday Fund Drive. We are working with LOCAL Charities... reply to this email or call me directly to arrange delivery or pickup per your preference. Thank you!

Thank you all for your efforts in bringing us back as parishioners of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament! When you attend Mass, please ensure to follow all of our parish's protocols and represent the Knights. We'd like to ask you to wear an Officer's Badge if you have one (even if it is from previous years), a Knights jacket, or at least a Knights of Columbus Emblem pin.

Finally, click here to view the latest KofC Video from Supreme Council regarding Fr. McGivney and the Knights. It's a short, 5-minute video, I highly recommend it!

Vivat Jesu!

DGK Jon De Leon

Dear Brothers, Family, and Friends,

I hope you and your family had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving! This is my favorite time of the year because it involves a few of my favorite things: spending time with family, eating, and watching countless Christmas movies, starting with Christmas Vacation! Also, as the year ends, it gives me an opportunity to reflect on the year and how the Good Lord has blessed me and my family throughout the year.

While it was a somber moment at the memorial mass remembering the Brothers that came before us, it was great to see some of you and catch up with you briefly. As I mentioned in my brief introduction to you and the church, one of the reasons I joined the KofC was to work with a group of people and accomplish a goal of giving back to the community. Well, in the last 3 weeks, we're almost half-way to our goal: we've raised $1,250 / 42% of our $3,000 goal!!

God Bless you!

Br. Frank Devita - D-Day to Hell and Back
As a member of the United States Coast Guard assigned to the USS Samuel Chase, Frank served as a gunner’s mate third class and crewed a Higgins boat on 15 D-Day landings. Frank was a part of the first wave, on June 6, 1944, that brought the Big Red One into Omaha Beach, and to this day still wonders how he survived.
