We need:

4-6 Brothers to help set up tables and chairs for Father Luke's Farewell Social

Scafuto, Vincent

Grand Knight,

Vincent Scafuto

Brothers, Sir Knights, Family, and Friends,

Thank you Mr. Jose Lim, Seminarian, for all the help provided to our parish during the summer. Best wishes on his continued studies on the way to the priesthood. Click this link to view photos from his farewell social.

We will require the assistance of 4-6 Brothers to help set up tables and chairs on Saturday morning August 29th @ 10:00 am for Father Luke's farewell party and sendoff.

I am asking those who can assist (about 45 minutes) please respond back to this email. If you plan on attending function you will need to sign-up, reserve your seating now.

I had the opportunity to speak with our KofC Brother Barry Walker who is running for another term on the School Board of Education. We are planning an online meeting to discuss concerns on how the School system is handling sex education and materials distributed to our children. He has welcomed the invite and is making time to discuss this serious subject. He also provided some insight as to where we can ascertain additional information online and at the director’s level for the B-R School of Health Education. Details to follow...

We are planning a Blessed Sacrament WELCOME BACK Sunday coffee and doughnuts and an opportunity to celebrate our Priests. We will have our new Monsignor in September perhaps we can coordinate the timing with CCW and Rosary Society. I am suggesting we create a committee (6-8 brothers) to assist in planning and managing the food handling and distribution. This will spread the workload and alleviate the pressure on those few Brothers who have ‘Carried the torch” in the past.

Gentlemen, I ask for as much of our MEMBERSHIP’S INVOLVEMENT as possible this Columbian Year. There are several Members who have gone above and beyond and have recommitted to hold office again relinquishing their personal time and energy to help keep this Council ALIVE and to continue into the future. Regardless of the AMOUNT of time or commitment you can provide, we ALL need to HELP! Many hands make for light work.

Thank you and God Bless

Vincent Scafuto

Blessed Sacrament Parish

BSC

Dear Parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Church,

I hope you are safe and healthy as we enter into the 5th month of living with COVID 19. Who would believe how our lives could change so dramatically in such a short period?

I received word on Monday from Bishop Checchio that Fr. Lukasz Blicharski, who has served Blessed Sacrament Church for eight years, is being transferred to St. Joseph Parish in Bound Brook, effective September 1, 2020.

The parish has benefited from Fr. Lukasz’s priestly service. The parish wishes him continued blessings in his service to the parishioners of St. Joseph Parish in Bound Brook. In gratitude for his priestly ministry, a celebration will take place after the 4 pm Mass in the parish hall on Saturday, August 29. Please be sure to sign-up.

Fr Luke Blicharski

Bishop Checchio has assigned Msgr. Robert Medley to be the new Parochial Vicar at Blessed Sacrament Church. I am confident that our parish community will welcome Msgr. Medley in the same spirit that you have welcomed pastors and parochial vicar’s throughout Blessed Sacrament Church’s history for the past fifty years.

Msgr. Robert Medley

Please pray for Fr. Lukasz and Msgr. Medley, as they assume a new role of priestly service within the Diocese of Metuchen.

Blessings,
Fr. Brian J. Nolan, D.Min

Frank De Vita Lane
Br. Frank Devita - D-Day to Hell and Back
As a member of the United States Coast Guard assigned to the USS Samuel Chase, Frank served as a gunner’s mate third class and crewed a Higgins boat on 15 D-Day landings. Frank was a part of the first wave, on June 6, 1944, that brought the Big Red One into Omaha Beach, and to this day still wonders how he survived.
