GK's Message
reader reader:

We are an "extremists", we are an "Extreme Organization", as such we hold extreme views on being extremely generous, extremely family friendly, extremely community oriented, extremely faithful and extremely patriotic! But wait, for these extreme views, we are to be barred from applying, be elected or appointed to certain positions. Please take a moment to read the below article by our editor, PGK Manny on becoming even more extreme, but obviously, not extremists.

Communion Breakfast help needed:

We need volunteers to 1) Sell tickets after every mass for the next three weekends, 2) Clean-up and was the required items tomorrow 1/5 and 3) Parish Hall Setup on 1/19

Please remember to bring your items for the PGK Frank Commune Memorial Communion Breakfast basket auction.

Vivat Jesu,
GK Vincent Scafuto

Catholics Need Not Apply

2018 ended with a salvo of what was supposed to be negative publicity for the Knight of Columbus, but you know the saying, no publicity is bad publicity! It is amazing that which was previously normal and righteous, being pro-life, pro-family and pro-faith, in other words, what we believe in and practice, these are now extreme views, and we, the Knight of Columbus, are therefore proud extremists! It is fitting that when searching Knights of Columbus Extreme Organization on the web, you will now find several articles about the Knights of Columbus. Two Democratic Senators Kamala Harris (CA) and Mazie Hirono (HI) suspect us of holding "Extreme Views". Go ahead, give it a try, you will find many articles regarding this new-found fame. We need to prove that these two senators, are right, we do hold what they consider "extreme views"! But first, some background.

Let’s see if I have this right. Killing babies while still in their mothers’ womb is no-longer “extreme”, marrying two men or two women to each-other is no-longer extreme, being anti-Catholic and prejudicial against Catholics to deny them employment is still acceptable? Believing in marriage being between one man and one woman, that babies should not be killed even in their mother's womb, that we should respect all lives regardless their age, creed, color or sexual orientation and believing other wholesome, Catholic values is extreme.

Yes, you are right, what we thought was wrong is now right. For our family oriented values, we’re being attacked as extremists and we should not be allowed to serve in certain positions within our government. Now, let’s take a moment and think about that… where have I heard that before? Oh, don't tell me, I remember now! This is the very reason that in 1882 father Michael J McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus. When “Catholics Need Not Apply” was all over the “Position Available” (except to Catholics) posters, and we were offered only the most dangerous and degrading jobs.

Although we cannot blame these two democratic senators for not knowing the Knights of Columbus and our works as often we go about doing our good deeds quietly and therefore unnoticed. They understand that we are a Catholic Organization and as such follow the principles of the Catholic Church, and rationalize that as such, because we are Catholic, we should “Not Apply”. This means they are thorough and complete bigots, prejudicial against the Catholic Church and should be ashamed to call themselves Senators and should resign at once, there is no room for bigotry in the United States Senate.

In 2019 and beyond, let’s make the most of our new-found extremism! Let’s band together and live our Formation (2nd) Degree principle of unity more extremely united, our Knighthood (3rd) Degree principle of fraternity more extremely inclusive of our families and community, and bring it all together in the principle of our Admission (1st) Degree in charity with more extreme fundraising!
With a renewed sense of purpose, we can help more of the needy in our community, educate more of the uneducated (including senators), take every opportunity to publicize our great works and proudly defend our government (including the senate) with the principle of our Patriotic (4th) Degree and be even more extremely patriotic.

Brothers, family and KofC supporters, let’s use this attack obviously because of our faith, as our call to unite and continue to make a more extreme difference in our Order, Church, community and country. Lets start by honoring our outstanding council brothers, community heroes at the our next event on January 20, the PGK Frank Comune Communion Breakfast!

Extremely Faithfully Yours,

PGK Manuel N. (Manny) Cirne

Brothers,

Our storage area has been compromised by the construction of the elevator shaft. On Saturday, January 5th, we will gather after the 9:00 AM Mass (between 9:30 and 10 AM) to inventory what we have, determine what can be salvaged. I suggest we pullout what we need for the Communion Breakfast, wash it, then placed on a cart in the hall, covered to protect it form further construction dust.

Here are key activities leading up to this event:
  1. January 05 - Saturday (tomorrow): Pull required utensils and various items from our storage area after the 9 AM Mass (starting at about 9:30 AM)
  2. January 09 - Wednesday: Bring 1 or 2 basket items to our Council Meeting, wine, chocolate, etc. to make two baskets
  3. January 5 & 6, 12 & 13, 19 Saturday and Sunday: Make yourself available to sell tickets after every weekend Mass - buy tickets for this event
  4. January 19 - Saturday: Setup will now start at 10 AM on Saturday, please click on this link.
  5. January 20 - Sunday: Attend the Council's Unity Mass at 9 AM, celebrated by our Keynote speaker Rev. Fr Timothy Christy, Vicar General of Metuchen Diocese

All Parishioners are once again invited to join us at our 49th annual communion breakfast on January 20, 2018, immediately following the 9 pm mass. It will take place in the Parish Hall.

This year’s guest speaker will be Rev. Fr Timothy Christy, Vicar General of Metuchen Diocese. Mark your calendars to plan to attend this wonderful annual event with your family and friends. Come to the 9 AM Mass, listen to a different perspective on the Gospel, and follow Father Christy downstairs for a great breakfast! Help us honor those that have provided outstanding service to our Council, Parish and Community!

Tickets are $10 per person, $5 age 6-12, under 6 free. It is a traditional American breakfast prepared by some of our best chefs. This is usually a full house event and tickets are limited, so please purchase your tickets early to avoid being disappointed.
