GK's Message
Dear reader reader:

First, let me wish you and your family a Blessed Labor Day!

Labor Day, time to reflect on what we were able to accomplish so far this year and what is still left to do. Our Fraternal Year started just two months ago, and already have a lot to reflect on and be thankful for. We have accomplished our goals for the first two months, and are now in position to get into the busy season (see event schedule below) confident that we can meet those objectives as well.

It is my sincere hope, that you are able to take a moment during this weekend and assess what have you been able to accomplish and what is there still left to do, assess how you can be of service. How does the Knights of Columbus fit into your plans and how can the our council specifically further your desire to support your Church, your community and council charities. The council is a great vehicle for you to channel your talents for the greater good! We would like, and need, you and your family and friends to support our events, be it as volunteers, participating in our fundraisers, providing us your ideas for our current or new events or simply buying plants at the fall plant sale.

We have many activities upcoming that will require your support, especially, but not exclusively, the Oktoberfest! DGK Joe Piarulli is the Chairman and has been doing a great job leading this effort (see flyer below). This year we are planning to grow this event, to make it more fun, and to make it more interactive. We will have a photo op, lots of decorations and props you can buy, great food and beer tasting and pairing with various German sausages. We will again be asking all the member to contribute their time, bring in a basket for the basket auction, and attend the event.

Our parish will have another Safety Meeting combined with our Catechist Meeting on Wednesday, September 5th at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall. We'd like to invite any of you that are involved in parish activities to please attend this meeting. Please contact the parish office if you'd like to attend.

Finally, I would like to thank our brothers that were able to assist the veterans to the Holy Mass at the VA in Lyons! Our military is always there for us, it is great, and fitting, that we should be there for the ones in most need of our help. Thank you PGK's Manny and John, and Brs. Harley and David!
